Remember

Remember his back,
His hands, his feet,
His side and even his brow.
He gave it all while conquering hate,
And he gave it without a scowl.

Laid down his life
For friend and foe.
He went high,
When they went low.
And if you’ve forgotten
Just so you know,
He said we should too.

With one last breath
He gave a sigh.
They laid him low,
Then he went high.
‘Cause first you love
And then you die.
And he said we should too.

It’s a crazy way
To win the day.
Doesn’t look like
It will pay.
He took the cross
Anyway.
And he said we should too.

They spit and laughed
Right in his face.
They scoffed and mocked
Such a disgrace.
But he forgave
In that very place.
And he said we should too.

Two thousand years
Have come and gone.
And time has proved
The victor’s song.
The sword will die.
The cross will rise.
And he said we should too.

Humble love
Did prevail.
It was grace
that tore the veil.
Fear not the hammer
Nor the nail.
What would Jesus do?

Remember his back,
His hands, his feet,
His side and even his brow.
He gave it all while conquering hate,
And he gave it without a scowl.

He said we should too.
